We have added two new colors, Chrome Orange and Nickel Yellow Dp. Recently we added Nickel Yellow which has quickly become a best seller and a staple on many palettes. It is useful instead of white in tints, especially when a warmer tint is needed. Now we are making a deep version of the PY53 that will hopefully be as useful. It is similar to a lighter naples yellow or lead tin yellow. The Chrome Orange is a bright orange that leans red and is a strong tinting pigment. I haven’t been able to personally use them yet so feedback, as always, is greatly appreciated. Let us know how they work for you and where you find them useful. We will be adding new colors this year with Mars Black coming next. If there is something you would like to see us make please let us know at info@blueridgeartist.com
COLORS – AVAILABLE NOW & COMING SOON…
Over the coming weeks and months I will be adding several more colors back to the lineup, as well as new ones when possible. There will be several colors that we made previously that will most likely not make a comeback, at least not in the near future. If you see one you can not live without please let me know in case the opportunity comes up to offer it again. These are as follows:
- Raw Sienna Yellow Shade Natural – In the past I listed this as natural so everyone would know it may be gritty due to it being dirt mined in Georgia. However most, like myself, didn’t care for the grittiness of these colors. I plan to offer a yellow shade raw sienna soon, but will be a smoother version like the red shade we carry.
- Brown Ochre
- Burnt Umber Natural
- Verdaccio – Mixed green – could come back at some point.
- Cadmium Red Purple Shade – Old stock we had on hand burned up but would like to produce this one again one day.
- Quinacridone Magenta – Plan to make the Quinacridone Violet soon and currently make the Quinacridone Red Rose
- Fra Angelico Blue – Mixed blue – souped up Cobalt Blue
- Sap Green & Olive Green – will likely make these green mixes in the future.
The following colors are on the short list to get back into production, in no particular order:
- Thalo Turquoise
- Cadmium Brown
- Quinacridone Violet
- Carbazole Violet
- Napthol Red
- Permanent Green
- Cadmium Green
- Cobalt Turquoise
- Cadmium Orange Lt
- Manganese Violet
- Ultramarine Violet
- Naples Yellow
- Turkey Umber
- Cobalt Teal
- Cobalt Violet
- Cobalt Green Dp
- Sinopia
- Warm Rose
CADMIUM YELLOW CHART
Because our Cadmium Yellows are typically a step lighter than other versions on the market I get asked often how they compare to the others. So here is a composite that will hopefully give a better idea of the differences between them. They were all shot under the same cross polarized lighting setup to reduce glare and give a more saturated color in an attempt to illustrate this all better than I can describe them. Please let me know if you have any questions. More pictures coming soon…
Happy New Years!!!
I hope everyone had a safe and happy New Year and are now ready to tackle 2017 well rested and rejuvenated.
2017 will make ten years since Blue Ridge was turned from a dream into a reality, and I could not be more excited to see what the next ten will look like.
As always, please let me know if you have any problems or questions.

Overdue Update
Please forgive me for taking this long to post an update of our rebuild. Needless to say it has been a long road to get to this point, and I had every intention of posting updates along the way. Since that did not happen here is where we are today.
Our old building has been torn down, shortened, rebuilt, wired, plumbed, etc etc. We were finally able to pass the final inspection, which meant I could power up our new roller mill for the first time. However, the transformer sending the mill its power started smoking and popping. Needless to say the transformer was fried and we are still waiting on a new transformer to arrive and swapped out. That should be next week at the latest, and then the real work begins.
In the next few weeks there should be colors starting to show back up online, with more to follow rather quickly as we get under way. In the meantime please let me know if you have any questions.

Re-launch
Welcome back to Blue Ridge. After the fire, five months ago, we had no idea how we would ever get to this point. The enormous support from our customers and friends helped keep us going, especially during the moments when things seemed hopeless. We could not get to this point without you.
We currently are offering a select group of the most useful colors but soon will be adding more colors back to the lineup. Eventually a complete range of colors will be offered again. If your favorite color is no longer listed please let us know. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause anyone.
If you should experience any glitches with the new website let us know so we can make sure it gets fixed. We will do our best to get your orders filled and shipped as soon as possible.
Once again, thank you from all of us here at Blue Ridge. We look forward to reconnecting with everyone and working together once again.

Shop Fire
On September 2, 2015 our shop was destroyed by fire, caused by the combustion of linseed oil soaked rags inside a metal trash can which spread to the ceiling and then traveled down the walls. Leaving nothing in its path the fire destroyed everything we had worked for. Needless to say, this could have been easily avoided. The fire marshal told us, “putting them in a metal trash can was 95% right, putting the lid on being the other 5%.”
